Orthotics are not just for feet.

A common myth in society is that orthotics are only for the feet. Yes the devices are placed under the feet but, they can do a whole lot more then simply occupy space in your shoe.

An orthotic has similar properties to a building foundation in that it provides necessary stability and position for structure(s) higher up. In the case of the human body, an orthotic does much the same. It can assist in better aligning joint structures and tissues to reduce various symptoms far above the foot.

The knee is a perfect example. Females, due to a wider set pelvic position and Q-angle for example, are predisposed to a collapsed or knocked knee alignment. This in-turn causes bodily forces to drift more towards the inside aspect of the knee, causing pain.

The use of an orthotic can help reduce symptoms by repositioning forces acting at the knee by providing a necessary structural foundation to joints higher up the chain. This can be accomplished by angling the bottom of the device just slightly to shift foot pressures slightly more to the outside of the foot; offloading the inside aspect of the knee. By offloading the medial (inside) knee compartment, inflamed or over-stressed intra-articular tissues are finally given the break they need.

A simple and effective strategy to combat knee pain.
